Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul have adopted the Indonesia-Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030 to guide the strengthening of bilateral cooperation over the next five years.
The two leaders announced the agreement during a joint press statement following their bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
“Today’s meeting produced several concrete outcomes, including the adoption of the Indonesia-Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030 as a shared framework to strengthen bilateral cooperation going forward,” Prabowo said.
The roadmap serves as a framework for implementing the strategic partnership across various sectors following the elevation of bilateral ties between Indonesia and Thailand in 2025.
Before the joint press statement, President Prabowo and Prime Minister Anutin witnessed the exchange of the Indonesia-Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow exchanged the document before the delegations of both countries and members of the press.
Prime Minister Anutin expressed his satisfaction that both sides had agreed on the 2026–2030 roadmap, which he said would serve as a guide for the next phase of cooperation to promote prosperity and mutual benefit for the peoples of both countries.
On the same occasion, Indonesia and Thailand also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on educational cooperation. The agreement was signed by Indonesian Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti and Thai Education Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong.
According to Anutin, the educational cooperation is expected to enhance knowledge exchange, promote student and faculty mobility, and improve the quality of education in both countries.
He noted that more than 800 Thai students are currently studying at Indonesian universities, adding that Indonesia is a popular destination for Thai students, particularly those from Thailand’s southern border provinces.
In addition to intergovernmental cooperation, President Prabowo also welcomed the signing of several business-to-business memorandums of understanding (MoUs), including an agreement between the Tourism Authority of Thailand and TransNusa on tourism and air connectivity, as well as a partnership on organic waste processing.
