Kendari, SE Sulawesi (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s immigration authorities will deport three Chinese nationals on September 17 after discovering that they violated residence permit terms by working illegally at a project site in Southeast Sulawesi’s North Konawe district, officials said.
“They will be deported on September 17, 2026, through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in coordination with immigration officials there,” Southeast Sulawesi Immigration Office Head Azwar Anas said at a press conference in Kendari on Wednesday.
The suspects—identified by their initials GY, WL, and CF—were apprehended following a public tip received via the office hotline on Sept. 10.
An enforcement team raided a workers’ dormitory in North Konawe the following morning, confirming the trio engaged in activities inconsistent with their visas, breaching Article 122(a) of Indonesia’s Immigration Law.
Anas noted that the enforcement action reflects Jakarta’s selective immigration policy, emphasizing that foreign nationals are expected to strictly obey local laws and provide tangible benefits to the country.
