Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia will send a contingent of 432 athletes to compete across 35 disciplines at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, the Indonesian National Olympic Committee (NOC) announced Saturday.
The delegation will be supported by 148 coaches and officials, along with 32 administrative and support staff led by Chef de Mission (CdM) Todotua Pasaribu.
NOC Indonesia President Raja Sapta Oktohari stated that the squad was finalized following rigorous joint evaluations by the Youth and Sports Ministry and NOC Indonesia, focusing on readiness, technical requirements, and medal potential.
“The Asian Games is more than a competition—it is a platform to demonstrate that Indonesian sports are evolving and capable of competing with Asia’s best,” Oktohari said.
“Having undergone optimal selection and preparation, our athletes are ready to perform with confidence and make the nation proud.”
He noted that three disciplines—boxing, fencing, and table tennis—will participate through self-funding and corporate sponsorship.
Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir emphasized that the selection process was conducted objectively to ensure only the most competitive athletes represent the country.
“The ministry, NOC Indonesia, and national federations are fully committed to fielding our best talent with the highest chances of winning medals,” Thohir said, calling on the athletes to maintain sportsmanship and focus.
CdM Todotua Pasaribu confirmed that logistical preparations—including travel, accommodation, and competition schedules—are proceeding smoothly as planned to ensure athletes can perform at their peak.
