Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Defense for Logistics, Defense Industry and Technology, Air Marshal Yusuf Jauhari, emphasized the importance of defense cooperation with Türkiye in strengthening Indonesia’s defense capabilities and self-reliance.
“This cooperation is part of a joint effort to build robust, adaptive and sustainable defense capabilities, while enhancing the readiness of both countries to address future security challenges,” Yusuf said during the 103rd National Day of Türkiye celebration in Jakarta on Thursday evening (Oct 29).
Yusuf said Indonesia prioritizes defense cooperation that delivers tangible, sustainable impacts through technology transfers, joint production, the strengthening of the defense industry, and human resource development.
“Looking ahead, Indonesia hopes to further strengthen its defense cooperation with Türkiye through concrete, sustainable and mutually beneficial initiatives,” he added.
Additionally, Ambassador of Türkiye to Indonesia Talip Kucukcan highlighted the recent signing of the Badr Memorandum on October 21, 2026, in Doha, Qatar.

“Cooperation in the defense and security industry plays a vital role in our fraternal relations. The recent signing of the Badr Memorandum will pave the way for a partnership between Türkiye and Indonesia,” Ambassador Kucukcan said.
Beyond defense, Kucukcan pointed to robust multilateral cooperation within international bodies such as the UN, OIC, G20, and MIKTA, while noting that Indonesia’s strong backing helped secure Türkiye’s partnership dialogue status with ASEAN.
While celebrating strategic and military milestones, Ambassador Kucukcan noted significant potential for growth across economic, cultural, educational, and trade sectors.
He highlighted existing people-to-people ties, noting that nearly 6,000 Indonesian students are currently pursuing higher education in Türkiye, alongside a vibrant Turkish community residing in Indonesia.
