Indonesia’s Baznas delivers hot meals to 3,500 Gaza residents

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia, through the National Alms Agency (Baznas), continues to provide humanitarian assistance to Palestinians affected by the war in Gaza, including 875 packages of hot, ready-to-eat meals to 3,500 displaced residents.

Baznas’ Head Sodik Mudjahid said in a statement received here on Tuesday the meal distribution initiative aimed to help meeting the needs of Palestinians affected by the war amid severely limited access to food.

“The conditions in Palestine remain unsettling. In fact, people are having difficulty even meeting their basic needs, including those in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. Baznas hopes this aid will help ease their burden,” Mudjahid said.

He pointed out each package contains a large serving of rice and a whole chicken, enough to feed a family of four.

The humanitarian assistance reflects the agency’s commitment in channelling Islamic philanthropic funds donated by Indonesians for those most in need, particularly people affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

“The solidarity of Indonesians toward Palestine remains crucial. Every donation entrusted to Baznas carries a mandate to deliver the greatest possible benefit to those in need,” Mudjahid said, promising quick, continued efforts to provide aid to Palestinians in distress.

Palestinians welcomed the food assistance, with some expressing gratitude to the Indonesian people for providing hot meals through Baznas.

“We are in dire need of this food aid. You (Indonesians) have brought joy to our children. Though we currently have no income, you have not forgotten us. Praise be to God,” said a mother living with her children in a refugee camp.

An elderly woman voiced a similar sentiment, hoping Indonesians would continue providing humanitarian assistance for Palestinians.

“May God bless those who provided these hot meals. By God, we are living in dire hardship. We hope that this assistance will continue coming,” she said.
