Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) – Deputy Minister of Health Benjamin Paulus Octavianus said the government’s Free Health Check (CKG) program had reached around 82 million participants, with findings dominated by non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like diabetes and hypertension.

“As of today, the figure has reached 81.4 million. With an estimated 600,000 people added today, that brings the total to 82 million, as at least 600,000 people undergo free health checks across Indonesia every day,” he said in Tangerang District, Banten, on Thursday.

According to Benjamin, the government aims to reach 130 million people through the screening program throughout 2026, covering roughly 46 percent of the country’s total population.

“The cases of diabetes and hypertension detected through the program highlight why regular checkups are so vital,” he said.

He added that individuals diagnosed with either condition will receive treatment tailored to their health needs. Patients will be directed to community health centers for ongoing care, while those requiring specialized medical attention will be referred to hospitals.

The deputy minister urged the public not to ignore hypertension and diabetes so that the conditions can be detected early, preventing severe complications such as stroke, heart failure, and kidney failure.

The CKG program is one of the government’s key strategies for early disease detection.

By identifying health conditions earlier, people can receive prompt treatment, minimizing the risk of their condition worsening.

“We want to detect conditions like hypertension early so we can treat them immediately, helping people live longer with healthier lives,” he said.

The CKG program, launched in early 2025, aims to improve public health and reduce the burden of preventable diseases.

With a target of reaching the entire population of 280 million people, the initiative is set to become one of the largest health programs in the country’s history.
