Indonesia’s Law Ministry integrates Astacita into key operations

Bali (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Ministry of Law reaffirmed its commitment to embedding the administration’s eight-point national priority framework, Astacita, across all key operations as President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka mark two years in office.

The Astacita framework serves as the foundation for Indonesia’s 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).

Speaking in Bali on Saturday (October 10), Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas said the ministry is rolling out the strategy across public services, legislative drafting, legal guidance, intellectual property management, and policy development.

“For the Ministry of Law, we are now implementing the President’s Astacita across the board,” Supratman told ANTARA.

In public services, the ministry is migrating its operational systems to a digital platform, with full completion targeted for October.

Regarding legislative affairs, Supratman stated the ministry is simplifying regulations, pursuing deregulation, and harmonization to resolve conflicting or redundant rules, in line with presidential directives.

In the area of legal assistance, the ministry has established 83,960 legal aid posts (Posbankum) across villages and urban wards nationwide to improve access to justice for underprivileged citizens.

To date, these posts have successfully resolved 14,000 out of 16,000 complaints through out-of-court mediation.

Supratman noted that resolving these cases through mediation spared the state significant expense. Processing a single criminal case, from investigation and prosecution through trial and correctional rehabilitation, costs the government approximately Rp80 million (around US$4,471) per person.

By resolving 14,000 cases through Posbankum mediation, the state has saved an estimated Rp1.2 trillion (US$67 million) in budgetary expenditures, he added.

In intellectual property management, the ministry is organizing business-matching events to connect patent holders with commercial partners, ensuring registered innovations are actively utilized.

On policy development, Supratman said that all ministerial decisions undergo prior analysis by the ministry’s Policy Strategy Agency (BSK) to ensure evidence-based formulation.

“Once the recommendations are aligned, I simply implement them in the form of a ministerial regulation or a proposal for regulatory changes at a higher level. I never act arbitrarily,” the minister said.
