Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has underscored Russia’s role as a vital partner, reaffirming Jakarta’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
The president highlighted this during a luncheon hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday.
“For Indonesia, Russia is a vital partner. We are proud and delighted to see our relations grow stronger,” Prabowo said at the event, which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.
Prabowo also expressed pride in Indonesia’s participation in the forum, calling it a crucial bridge for regional cooperation and connectivity.
He noted that as fellow Pacific nations, Indonesia and Russia share strategic interests in regional cooperation, particularly in maritime affairs and connectivity.
Reaffirming Jakarta’s commitment to delivering mutual benefits, Prabowo noted that bilateral engagement continues to expand, particularly in trade and economics.
“As Your Excellency noted, our economic and trade ties have expanded, and our collaboration across various fields has made significant progress,” Prabowo remarked.
Prabowo landed at Vladivostok International Airport on Wednesday, Sept. 2, to attend the 11th EEF as the guest of honor. His participation reflects Indonesia’s active engagement with Russia, following his attendance at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in 2025.
