Jakarta (ANTARA) – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said about 1,000 civil servants, affected by a fire at the Jakarta Revenue Agency (Bapenda) building, will work remotely until their offices are safe to reoccupy.
The employees will use work-from-home (WFH) or work-from-anywhere (WFA) arrangements to keep the Jakarta government services running while the damaged building remains unavailable, Pramono said here on Sunday.
The arrangement will remain until the authorities determine the building is safe for normal operations, he added.
“Until this can run, we are implementing Work From Home or Work From Anywhere, so that ongoing work is not disrupted,” Pramono said after visiting a pedestrian bridge.

The burning building houses several Jakarta government agencies, including the Revenue Agency, Transportation Agency and Human Resources Development Agency, he said.
The fire affected several floors, from the 11th through the 16th. The fire started on Friday at about 9:30 p.m. local time and was later extinguished.
Pramono said the Jakarta administration immediately coordinated with relevant agencies after learning about the fire, including transportation officials, firefighters, and the regional secretary.
Following the coordination, the administration decided to temporarily move civil servants working there to their respective local agency offices, he said.
“We immediately decided that, temporarily, the civil servants there would be moved to their respective local agencies,” Pramono said.

The remote working arrangement is intended not only to protect civil servants but also to ensure the government duties continue while the building cannot yet be used, Pramono said.
The fire struck the Jakarta Revenue Agency building on Abdul Muis Street in Petojo Selatan, Gambir, at about 9:40 p.m. on Friday, according to authorities.
The Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency said the blaze originated on the building’s 11th floor, before spreading to several upper floors. The agency deployed 40 fire trucks and 200 personnel to extinguish the blaze at the government building.
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police deployed 125 personnel to secure the area around the Revenue Agency building during firefighting operations and subsequent emergency response.
The Central Jakarta Military District Command deployed 50 personnel to help secure the area surrounding the fire site, authorities said.
