Jakarta (ANTARA) – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said his administration places security, comfort, and smooth mobility as top priorities as the Indonesian capital is set to host the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026.
“We are envisioning Jakarta as a city that is friendly to sports, becoming a sports destination. Truth be told, events like the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 carry great importance for this city,” Anung remarked while attending a parade held as a prelude to the Southeast Asian football tournament.
Speaking at the HI Roundabout on Sunday, Anung emphasised all elements of the Jakarta government are resolved to fully support the inaugural event in an effort to enhance the global image of the country and the nation.
The governor further underscored his administration’s commitment to ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all participants and supporters throughout the championship, highlighting optimal transportation arrangements.
“Let us hope that everything will run smoothly, and most importantly, that Indonesia will emerge as the champion,” he concluded.

Indonesia organised the prelude event, officially billed as the Roll to Glory FIFA ASEAN Cup Family Parade, to welcome the championship, which will run from Sept 25 to Oct 25.
The parade ran from the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium to the HI Roundabout.
Also joining the activity, Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir emphasised Indonesia is enthusiastic about hosting the first FIFA-sanctioned Southeast Asian football tournament, having successfully staged the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023.
Thohir expressed confidence in Indonesia proving to be both a reliable host and an excellent contestant at the championship.
He also called on the Indonesian public to demonstrate hospitality to visiting teams and their supporters to contribute to the smooth running of the competition, which will involve all 11 ASEAN countries and three guest teams.
Indonesia is set to co-host the championship alongside Hong Kong, with Jakarta and Bandung among the venues.
