Jambi (ANTARA) – Jambi District Court sentenced M. Alung Ramadhan to life in prison on Thursday (Oct 8) for a methamphetamine offense involving more than 58 kilograms of the drug.
“Life imprisonment,” presiding judge Dini Nusrotudiniyah Arifin said while reading the verdict, joined by fellow judges Muhammad Denny Firdaus and Rahmat Sahala Pakpahan.
The panel found Alung guilty of acting as an intermediary in the sale or purchase, or of delivering or receiving, a Category I narcotic.
The judges based their decision on trial facts, evidence and witness testimony, which they said established all elements of the offense.
Aggravating factors considered by the judges included, among others, the fact the defendant’s actions were deemed to be contrary to the government’s program to combat the illicit drug trade and had the potential to harm the younger generation.

Evidence included 58 plastic packets of methamphetamine weighing about 58.2 kilograms.
Police also seized several mobile phones, a suitcase and two cars. The panel ruled that those items should be used as evidence in a separate case against defendant Deka.
The alternative indictment cited Article 114(2) and Article 132 of the 2009 Narcotics Law, as adjusted in 2026, or Article 609(2)(a) of the 2023 Criminal Code and Article 132(1) of the Narcotics Law.
The judges gave prosecutors and defense counsel seven days to decide whether to accept the ruling or appeal.
Alung remains in detention at Jambi Class IIB Penitentiary.
Two other defendants in the same case, Agit Ramadhan and Juniardo, were previously sentenced to life in prison.
