Jakarta (ANTARA) –

Former Indonesian President Joko Widodo arrived at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday morning to personally testify in the defamation trial concerning allegations of diploma forgery, involving defendants Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma.

Jokowi arrived at the court, claiming to have brought his educational diplomas with him.

“All of them are on me,” Jokowi said.

The statement reflected Jokowi’s readiness to expound on his academic background and show all diplomas that he possessed for the trial.

Jokowi arrived at 8:30 a.m. local time on a black vehicle, accompanied by his adjutants, and awaited by his staunch supporters. His arrival caused commotion at the court lobby.

“Do not be afraid, Mr. Jokowi. We trust you. We are ready to be with you to defend the truth,” his supporters yelled.

For Thursday’s hearings, East Jakarta Police deployed additional personnel and implemented traffic diversions around the courthouse to maintain security during Jokowi’s visit.

Jokowi was scheduled to testify in two separate trials; the morning session involving defendant Roy Suryo and the afternoon session involving defendant Tifauzia Tyassuma.

Former minister Roy Suryo and health activist Tifauzia Tyassuma, popularly known as Dokter Tifa, were facing defamation and slander accusations after questioning the authenticity of Jokowi’s undergraduate diploma.

Suryo and Tifa were named suspects in November 2025 and had been arrested by the police on June 19, before being released shortly.

Regarding the diploma case, Jokowi had responded to a police summons and personally attended the questioning at the police headquarters in Jakarta in May 2025.

During the questioning, Jokowi addressed disputes regarding the authenticity of his undergraduate diploma to police investigators. He also pledged to present the original diploma if requested later.
