Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said it had briefed the Indonesian Military Police Center (Puspom TNI) on former disaster agency chief Lt. Gen. Suharyanto’s role in an alleged corruption case involving emergency funds.
“At case presentations on October 13 and 14, we explained Suharyanto’s position to attending military police officials in greater detail,” KPK Acting Investigation Director Achmad Taufik Husein said.
Speaking here Friday, Taufik said KPK had also updated Puspom TNI on the progress of its investigation into alleged corruption at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
He said one of the officials briefed was from the military police’s investigative unit.
“Members of its investigative unit were also present,” he said, adding that military police officials had also accompanied KPK investigators during field operations.
“Several Puspom TNI officials joined our team at BNPB headquarters when we sealed the premises. That operation was conducted jointly with military police,” he said.
KPK arrested 15 people in a sting operation at BNPB on October 13, 2026. The following day, the commission named five suspects, including Bima Setiawan, the younger brother of former BNPB chief Lt. Gen. Suharyanto.
Bima had also served as an expert adviser to the BNPB chief while Suharyanto was in office.
The other four suspects are BNPB official Gabriel Purwaka Sigit, head of its aid and emergency funds subdirectorate; adviser Richard Erlangga; PT Trans Lintas Selaras director Gery Prasetiawan; and private citizen Syifa Nrika Ghifarin.
