Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has invested more than Rp200 billion to strengthen its cybersecurity, chief commissioner Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said on Wednesday.
“We have increased (our) cybersecurity by investing more than Rp200 billion. We employed a cybersecurity expert and trained or upgraded our personnel,” he informed at a press conference on an international seminar held by LPS in Nusa Dua, Bali.
He recalled that soon after taking over the post of LPS chief commissioner, he had invited hackers to test the corporation’s cybersecurity by turning the LPS home page off in five seconds.
“Today, our (cybersecurity) is good. We have a good integrated core system. This was proven in mid-2021, when the number of (ransomware) attacks ran into 200 thousand a day,” he said.
In mid-2021, thanks to stronger cybersecurity at LPS, the threat of ransomware attacks launched on the weekends, which could affect regular working days, could be dealt with soon, he added.
Earlier, LPS held the second forum of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee International Association of Deposit Insurers (APRC IADI), themed “Cybersecurity and Corporate Risk Management for Deposit Insurers,” on November 6-7 in Bali.
“This two-day study visit by experts (in cybersecurity) is aimed at enriching and giving important knowledge and skills to the participants about comprehensive cybersecurity and corporate risk management,” he said.
The forum brought together more than 100 participants from 30 countries.
