Makassar police seize nine kg of meth, 10,255 ecstasy pills

Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA) – Makassar police in South Sulawesi have uncovered an international drug trafficking network, seizing nine kilograms of methamphetamine and 10,255 ecstasy pills and arresting seven suspects.

“Seven suspects were arrested, along with nine kilograms of methamphetamine and 10,255 ecstasy pills,” Makassar Police Narcotics Unit Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Lulik Febyantara said.

Speaking in Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi Province, on Saturday, he said the network, known as the “Jocker Malaysia Network,” distributed drugs from Medan to Jakarta and Surabaya before sending them to Makassar.

Police uncovered the network after arresting two women, identified by their initials EA and SI, on July 20, 2026, with 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine and 6,255 ecstasy pills.

Based on their questioning, police went to Suppa, Pinrang district, and arrested a man identified as SA, who allegedly linked the network to its major controller, RD, a Malaysian fugitive.

The investigation then led police to Surabaya, East Java, where they arrested two men, identified as AD and DK, seizing 5.5 kilograms of methamphetamine and 6,255 ecstasy pills.

“AD allegedly worked as a courier, using sea-based freight services to distribute the drugs, while DK stored them in a warehouse in Surabaya,” he said.

The investigation continued beyond Surabaya, with police traveling to Parung, Depok, West Java, where they arrested two men, identified as SB and EW, seizing two kilograms of methamphetamine and 4,000 ecstasy pills.

The suspects face charges under Article 114(2), in conjunction with Article 132(1), of the 2009 Narcotics Law and Article 609(2)(a) of the 2023 Criminal Code.

The charges also refer to the 2026 law amending provisions on criminal penalties under the Criminal Code.
