Bukittinggi, W Sumatra (ANTARA) – Agam Immigration Office in West Sumatra deported a Malaysian national identified as M after finding that the person had overstayed an immigration permit by 157 days.
Agam Immigration Office Head Kizlar Asaad said the deportation was carried out on Saturday (Sept. 26) through Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport in Pekanbaru, the capital of Riau Province.
“M underwent examination in accordance with immigration regulations. Based on the findings, we took administrative action by returning the person to their home country,” Kizlar said here Monday.
M was flown to Malaysia on a Pekanbaru-Kuala Lumpur route.
Kizlar said the Malaysian national had overstayed the permitted period by 157 days.
The administrative immigration action was taken under Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration, he said.
The action was part of immigration oversight and law enforcement concerning the presence and activities of foreign nationals in Indonesia, he said.
“Every foreigner in Indonesia must comply with immigration regulations, including those governing stay permits. For violations, Immigration will take action in accordance with applicable laws,” he said.
Kizlar said immigration violations are handled based on examination findings and legal provisions, taking into account each foreign national’s status and circumstances.
He added that deportation is part of immigration law enforcement and oversight of foreign nationals.
“This step implements immigration regulations to ensure every foreigner complies with the rules while staying in Indonesia,” he said.
Agam Immigration Office has also strengthened oversight of foreign nationals by coordinating with the Immigration Monitoring Team (Timpora) and various agencies in its jurisdiction.
