Jakarta (ANTARA) – Environment Minister Moh Jumhur Hidayat has called on the younger generation to collaborate in overseeing President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programs.
Jumhur made the statement on Saturday (August 29) during an event commemorating the 53rd anniversary of the National Committee of Indonesian Youth (KNPI) and the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day in Jakarta.
“President Prabowo is currently undertaking reforms in various sectors, including efforts to eradicate corruption. I hope young people, particularly within KNPI, support this movement,” he said, according to an official statement released on Sunday.
The minister noted that the Prabowo administration has launched key priority programs aimed at reforming strategic sectors while strengthening the foundation for the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
Therefore, he expressed hope that the younger generation would not only benefit from development but also step up as a driving force to ensure these reform agendas remain on track.
Several priority programs, he said, reflected the government’s efforts to shift the development model toward one that delivers broader public benefits.
However, these efforts still require public support, particularly from the younger generation, who possess the energy, creativity, and courage to pioneer change.
“This change is part of an effort to ensure the development provides broader benefits to the public,” he said.
According to him, corruption eradication is a key part of the country’s reform agenda, stressing the importance of clean governance in ensuring development programs run effectively and their benefits directly reach the public.
“Corruption not only drains state finances, but also impedes development and erodes public trust in state institutions,” he explained.
He added that the fight against corruption requires public participation, particularly young people, who hold a strategic position in building a culture of integrity.
Meanwhile, KNPI Chairperson Haris Pertama affirmed his organization’s readiness to support the reform agenda pursued by President Prabowo.
He stated that KNPI will help direct youth energy toward bolstering national development while actively monitoring the government’s strategic programs.
Haris highlighted that young people must serve as a productive, critical, and constructive force. Supporting the government, he added, does not mean abandoning critical thinking, but rather ensuring that every strategic policy delivers tangible benefits to the public.
