Jakarta (ANTARA) – Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has called for accelerating the integration of the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE), or e-government, to improve the accuracy of social assistance distribution.
By integrating biometric-based population data with various ministries and government agencies, the government aims to ensure that social assistance reaches those who are genuinely eligible.
“With this system, we can identify more precisely and accurately who is eligible to receive social assistance and who is not,” he said in a statement received here on Friday.
The minister made the remarks while addressing officials of the Biak Numfor District Government at the BN1 State Building in Biak Numfor District, Papua, on Friday.
Karnavian explained that data updating efforts are focused on people in the first to fourth income deciles, or the poorest 40 percent of households.
According to him, the use of technology and data integration is a key instrument for improving the accuracy of social protection programs while minimizing potential errors in the distribution of assistance.
He said that Biak Numfor is among the priority regions for expanding the e-government implementation ahead of Indonesia’s Independence Day commemoration.
“Before August 17, the President has asked us to add another 100 (regions), if possible. In Papua, one of them is Biak,” he said.
The minister also called regional government agencies, village officials, and Integrated Health Service Post (Posyandu) personnel to support the data updating process to be carried out by technical teams in the field.
“We hope that in Biak, recipients of assistance from the central government as well as aid provided by the provincial and district governments will truly be those who are entitled to receive it, so that the assistance reaches the right targets,” the minister said.
