I tried the electric bus made by the citizens, the result of a collaboration between the Transportation Ministry; Higher Education at Research and Technology Ministry; INKA; and some universities in Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi reviewed the red and white electric bus transportation that will be used as a shuttle for G20 delegates and participants in Bali on Thursday, November 10.
Sumadi was keen to ensure that the domestically-made electric bus could operate well ahead of the G20 Summit scheduled to take place on November 15-16, 2022.
“I tried the electric bus made by the citizens, the result of a collaboration between the Transportation Ministry; Higher Education at Research and Technology Ministry; INKA; and some universities in Indonesia. The level of domestic components of this electric bus is more than 50 percent,” he elaborated in a statement on Thursday.
The minister lauded those who had contributed in the efforts to make the electric bus a way to ensure that delegates and participants had appropriate means of transportation.

“I am proud of what has been done. If something is not optimal, then we must learn and improve again. (It is) because Mr. President said that we have to try. God willing, this effort can offer benefits to the nation,” he noted.
Minister Sumadi further said that the electric buses used in the G20 events would later be used as urban mass transportation in Bandung, Surabaya, and also Bali, through the buy the service (BTS) program from the ministry, with DAMRI as its operator.
A total of 30 red and white electric buses comprising medium and large buses will operate, including in the Nusa Dua area, Sawangan area, Samabe, and the Bali G20 Summit venue area.

The planned operational schedule for the electric bus is on November 11-17, 2022, with operating hours from 6 a.m. local time to 10 p.m. local time.
Electric buses are also imported from other entities, such as the University of Indonesia, and some domestic automotive manufacturers. A total of 41 electric buses are operating for the G20 Summit, comprising medium and large buses.
The availability of electric vehicles at the G20 event serves as proof of Indonesia’s commitment to pursuing energy transition from fossil-based to new and renewable energy that is more eco-friendly — a global, collective work of several countries to address the energy crisis and deal with climate change.
