Jakarta (ANTARA) – Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Bintang Puspayoga visited a family services center (FSC) in Singapore to exchange sound practices and decode the success of FSCs.
“I wish to convey my sincere appreciation to the Singaporean Ministry of Social and Family Development that has organized this pleasant visit to the family service center,” she remarked in a statement issued on Wednesday.
“We seek to gain much knowledge throughout this visit,” she said.
FSC is a community-based social service that serves low-income or vulnerable individuals and families in need of social and emotional support.
FSC social workers provide case management support to families regarding familial, financial, housing, employment, and other social issues.
According to Puspayoga, the FSC concept implemented by Singapore is similar to a program developed by her ministry, namely the Family Learning Center (Puspaga) program.
“Puspaga has been developed since 2016 and there are currently 257 puspagas spread across 16 provinces and 231 districts or cities in Indonesia,” she informed.
Puspaga offers counseling, consultation, and assistance to Indonesian families with the help of professionals, namely psychologists and counselors, free of charge
Puspaga is a learning center that seeks to improve the quality of familial living by strengthening the capacity of parents or families or other people responsible for children’s well-being and protection, she noted.
“Indonesian President Joko Widodo pays special attention to the role of mothers and families in education, parenting, which makes this issue one of the President’s priority agendas,” the minister said.
During her visit to the FSC, Puspayoga asked several questions concerning the program, such as quality, quantity, human resource capacity, mechanism, service flow, and monitoring of service recipients.
Her ministry expects synergy to be established between Puspaga and FSC in the future.
