Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Housing and Settlement Areas Ministry (PKP) collaborates with the Population and Family Development Ministry (BKKBN) to address stunting-risk families through home renovation programs, providing decent and healthy housing.
Housing and Settlement Areas Minister Maruarar Sirait said in a statement here on Thursday that his ministry has allocated 3,000 home renovation units specifically for families at risk of stunting.
The figure is higher than BKKBN’s initial proposal of 2,000 units.
“We must align our understanding and collaborate together so this home renovation process can run quickly and accurately,” Sirait said.
The collaboration was discussed in a meeting between Sirait and Population and Family Development Minister Wihaji.
The meeting discussed potential locations for the home renovation program based on BKKBN’s proposal, especially for stunting-risk families. BKKBN’s initial proposal covered locations in nine provinces with stunting-risk families.
Wihaji said unlivable housing conditions are one factor that needs attention in efforts to address stunting-risk families, adding that intervention through improved housing quality needs to be carried out in an integrated manner with relevant ministries and agencies.
“Today I am collaborating with the PKP Ministry to address stunting-risk families who need government programs, one of which is home renovation. There are 8.1 million families in the stunting category, one cause of which is unlivable housing,” Wihaji said.
The meeting also discussed criteria for prospective aid recipients and requirements for the home renovation program, so aid can be delivered accurately to families in need.
The PKP Ministry also said it continues simplifying requirements for aid recipients as part of service reform and accelerating housing program implementation.
One such change is adjusting the time requirement, cutting the minimum period of occupying unlivable housing from three years to one year.
In addition, the deadline for people who have never received aid was also shortened, from 10 years to five years.
