Ministry advocates broader push for productive, inclusive workplaces

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Secretary-General at the Manpower Ministry Cris Kuntadi has called for a broader push to build productive, adaptive, and inclusive workplaces to ensure broader benefits for the national workforce.

In a statement received here in Jakarta on Wednesday, Cris noted efforts to build a healthy work environment go beyond physical workplace conditions.

“Building the work environment must go hand-in-hand with fostering employee engagement as part of the organisational culture,” he said in his speech at the Stellar Workplace Award 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to him, companies capable of creating a robust work environment have a solid foundation to become productive, innovative, sustainable, and competitive. Therefore, award-winning companies are expected to share their best practices and experiences with others.

“One company’s success can inspire others, allowing these best practices to spread more widely,” the secretary general said.

He noted that as best practices become more widespread, employee engagement is more likely to take root as a core part of broader workplace culture. As a result, the experiences of award-winning companies can serve as valuable lessons for others.

Furthermore, Cris suggested expanding the focus of good workplace practices to include inclusivity. He underscored that future awards should recognise corporate efforts to create inclusive job opportunities, including for workers with disabilities.

In addition, he pointed out that the scope of the awards could be expanded beyond the private sector to include the public sector.

“The public sector is also building stronger engagement between employees and employers as part of its organisational culture,” Cris remarked.
