Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Youth and Sports Ministry has backed the Codero National Competition (CNC) 2026 coding and robotics contest as a strategic initiative to boost digital agility and technological competitiveness among the nation’s youth, officials said Saturday.
Speaking at the opening of the two-day event in Jakarta, Youth Services Deputy Hendro Wicaksono emphasized that technical skills in science and information technology must be paired with strong character development to guide responsible innovation.
“We appreciate this event because it can improve children’s knowledge and competitiveness,” Wicaksono said.
“But to the parents, we remind you not to forget character building. Character greatly supports a child to grow into an outstanding innovator.”
Wicaksono noted that while formal education sharpens intelligence, parental guidance is essential to ensure digitalization does not lead to social isolation or unguided technology use among children.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting platforms that nurture youth interest in robotics, coding, and esports, aligning with national long-term development goals to cultivate socially conscious digital leaders.
The competition, running October 24–25, drew approximately 450 participants aged 4 to 17 across 11 categories, including robotics challenges, coding, and electronics simulation, according to Codero Head of Marketing and Growth Jesslyn Catherine.
The event also featured interactive speed-building categories for younger children designed to involve parents, promoting balanced family engagement alongside early digital literacy.
