Jakarta (ANTARA) – Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo said access and basic needs following the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) were being addressed quickly.
He reported on response efforts carried out by the Public Works Ministry through its technical implementation units (UPT) in NTT.
“We have checked conditions in the field. Some points have started to be handled, but there is still work to be done. There is one bridge that still needs to be handled, and we are racing to get it handled soon,” Hanggodo said here on Sunday.
Several affected roads and bridges have been inspected, while efforts to address areas where access remains disrupted continue to be coordinated so public access can return to normal soon, he added.
He attended a coordination meeting on the emergency response following the magnitude-7.7 earthquake that struck the Flores Island area of NTT.
The meeting was held in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai District, to ensure a rapid and coordinated disaster response.
The meeting was led by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno and attended by several ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, along with representatives from the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and regional leaders.
Hanggodo instructed field UPT teams to address affected road sections in stages, prioritizing routes needed for public mobility, aid distribution, and emergency services.
Hanggodo stressed that disaster response requires cross-ministerial and inter-agency cooperation, including with regional governments, the TNI, and Polri.
The Public Works Ministry, through its UPTs in NTT, will continue monitoring affected infrastructure and accelerating repairs at locations where damage is disrupting connectivity.
These measures are intended to ensure that public access, aid distribution, and the fulfillment of basic needs can continue throughout the emergency response following the Flores earthquake.
