Jakarta (ANTARA) – Head of the Indonesia’s State-Owned Enterprises Management Agency (BP BUMN) Dony Oskaria expects the MotoGP event to strengthen Mandalika’s position as a leading sport tourism destination.

“Over the past five years, MotoGP has significantly impacted our tourism and industry in Mandalika. It has drawn large numbers of visitors,” Oskaria said in an official release here on Thursday.

Oskaria also serves as Chief Operating Officer of sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia.

Public enthusiasm for the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia continues to grow. Ticket sales have reached 90 percent for the race, scheduled at Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, from October 9-11.

BP BUMN and Danantara Indonesia are working with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Finance, Indonesia’s state-owned tourism and aviation company InJourney, and MotoGP commercial rights holder Dorna Sports to prepare for the prestigious event.

The strategic collaboration is aimed at ensuring that the international motorcycle racing event delivers broader positive impacts on national tourism and the Indonesian economy.

The strong ticket sales are in line with Dorna’s view of Indonesia as one of the region’s largest MotoGP markets, supported by its large population and strong fan base.

Oskaria said that consistently hosting of MotoGP over the past five years has accelerated tourism and industry development in Mandalika. The international event has continued to attract large numbers of foreign and domestic tourists to the coastal area.

This development is also reflected in Mandalika’s rapidly evolving tourism ecosystem. The region is now supported by a growing number of restaurants, hotels, and international flight connections.

“We can clearly see the results. Traffic in Mandalika has transformed significantly over the past five years, supported by numerous new restaurants, hotels, and international flights,” Oskaria added.

With growing public interest and a developing ecosystem, the Mandalika MotoGP is expected not only to serve as an international racing event but also to strengthen Mandalika’s position as a world-class sport tourism destination and an economic driver for West Nusa Tenggara.
