Jakarta (ANTARA) – Jakarta’s MRT operator has urged passengers to obey its rules, including a ban on eating and drinking in fare-paid station areas and aboard Ratangga trains, to maintain cleanliness and comfort.
“MRT Jakarta prohibits eating and drinking in fare-paid station areas and aboard Ratangga trains to maintain cleanliness, comfort and order,” Corporate Secretary Division Head Rendy Primartantyo said on Tuesday.
The statement followed a social media post showing an MRT passenger being reprimanded for drinking aboard a train.
Rendy said the officer’s action was part of the operator’s duty to enforce regulations throughout the MRT Jakarta system.
Management nevertheless emphasized that frontline staff must remain courteous and persuasive when interacting with passengers.
“Regarding the circulating video, the officer reminded the passenger to comply with the rules as part of their duties. Staff are expected to deliver such reminders politely and respectfully,” Rendy said.
MRT Jakarta thanked the public for helping maintain its facilities and urged passengers to follow staff instructions to ensure smooth and comfortable travel across the capital.
The video, posted on Instagram account @lbj_jakarta on Saturday morning, October 31, showed two security guards confronting a passenger who was drinking aboard an MRT train.
