Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has arrested a fugitive drug kingpin and seized 98 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, firearms, and luxury assets during a raid in North Jakarta.
The suspect, identified as MR and widely known as “Bos Gendut” (Fat Boss), was tracked from the notorious Kampung Bahari neighborhood to a beauty salon in Mangga Besar before being captured on Wednesday night, BNN Enforcement and Pursuit Director Brigadier General Roy Hardi Siahaan said.
MR had been a fugitive since November 7, 2025. During the operation, authorities confiscated 98 kilograms of methamphetamine alongside gold bars, a samurai sword, ammunition, and other illicit items.
Two close associates were also arrested near the scene after resisting officers, leaving a police officer injured during the raid.
Investigators are probing their specific ties to the kingpin.
Following the arrests, authorities seized several vehicles, including a Vespa scooter and a car.
Law enforcement is tracking an estimated Rp 39.5 billion ($2.5 million) in assets tied to money laundering, alongside Rp 1.27 billion ($80,000) in cash recovered during follow-up raids on Thursday morning.
