Jakarta (ANTARA) – The death toll from the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) earthquake has increased to 103 as of Tuesday, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
“There are three additional deaths, bringing the total to 103 today,” BNPB Acting Head of the Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center Berton SP Panjaitan said at a press conference on Tuesday.
The death toll from the earthquake that struck NTT on August 15, 2026, had reached 100 as of Monday (August 24). The latest data puts the death toll at 103, comprising 41 in Manggarai, 34 in East Manggarai, 13 in Nagekeo, six in Sikka, five in Ngada, three in Ende, and one in West Manggarai.
By gender, men accounted for 45 percent of the fatalities, while women made up the remaining 55 percent.
By age group, 45 percent of those who died were elderly people, 37 percent were adults, 12 percent were children and adolescents, and the remainder were infants and toddlers.
Panjaitan also reported that the number of injured victims had risen to 1,666 as of Tuesday, compared with 1,603 recorded on Monday (August 24).
East Manggarai District has the highest number of injured victims, with 239 people suffering serious injuries and 404 people suffering minor injuries.
According to Panjaitan, the agency continues to update victim data as additional reports arrive from earthquake-affected areas.
A magnitude-7.7 earthquake struck NTT in the early hours of Saturday (August 15), prompting the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to issue a tsunami early warning that was lifted several hours later.
President Prabowo Subianto said the government was doing its utmost to support earthquake-affected communities in NTT by deploying relevant personnel to address conditions on the ground.
“We want to ensure that people there receive prompt and comprehensive emergency assistance,” Prabowo wrote on his personal Instagram account @prabowo, as monitored on August 16.
