Police deploy 322 personnel to strengthen wildfire prevention

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Police has again deployed 322 personnel from its Education and Training Institute (Lemdiklat) as part of an Education Task Force to strengthen forest and land fire prevention efforts.

Head of Lemdiklat Commissioner General R.Z. Panca Putra Simanjuntak said the personnel deployed in the second wave are students from the police’s Senior Staff and Leadership School (Sespimti), Intermediate Staff and Leadership School (Sespimmen), and Police Professional Development School (SPPK).

“Today we gathered them in line with the directions of National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Deputy National Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, following up on President Prabowo Subianto’s instruction to deploy the Education Task Force,” Simanjuntak said here on Monday.

Simanjuntak said the personnel would be deployed to six regional police commands, namely in East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Riau, and South Sumatra, where they will serve for 10 days.

“The activity is an integral part of their education program, through the curriculum they are currently undertaking, namely the Domestic Study-Work Activity (KKDN) and real work practice (PKL),” he explained.

As the personnel already hold senior managerial positions, they will not only educate the public, but also evaluate and study the problems faced in each region as part of efforts to prevent forest and land fires in the future.

Upon completing their assignments, the personnel will provide detailed input based on both academic and operational concept approaches.

The input is expected to serve as recommendations for improvement, both for the police and for local and central governments.

Previously, the police deployed 403 personnel from Lemdiklat to educate the public on forest and land fire prevention.

The personnel consisted of eight accompanying officers or leaders and 395 students from the S2-STIK (Master’s Degree in Police Science) program, the Commissioned Officer Formation School (Setukpa), and the Junior Staff and Leadership School (Sespimma).
