Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto on Friday swore in Sinta Nuriyah, M. Quraish Shihab and Rocky Gerung as members of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) at the State Palace in Jakarta.
The ceremony marked the appointment of 26 Wantimpres members under Presidential Decree No. 107/P/2026 on the appointment of members to Indonesia’s Presidential Advisory Council.
The ceremony opened with the national anthem, Indonesia Raya. After the decree was read, Prabowo led the newly appointed Wantimpres members in taking their official oaths of office.
“I will remain faithful to the 1945 Constitution and uphold all laws in carrying out my duties for the nation and state,” the officials swore, repeating the oath administered by Prabowo.
Sinta Nuriyah, the widow of Indonesia’s fourth president, Abdurrahman Wahid, is a women’s rights activist and humanitarian advocate known for promoting interfaith dialogue and gender equality.
M. Quraish Shihab is an Islamic scholar and Quranic expert who served as religious affairs minister in 1998 and later as Indonesia’s ambassador to Egypt.
Rocky Gerung is an Indonesian political analyst, academic, philosopher and public intellectual known for his critical commentary on national governance.
After taking their oaths, Wantimpres members signed the official inauguration documents.
Under the new council structure, former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Pratikno was appointed chairman and will also serving as a council member.
Former Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa was appointed vice chairman while also serving as a member of the advisory council.
Muhammad Qodari, former presidential chief of staff and head of the Government Communications Agency (Bakom), was appointed secretary while also serving as a council member.
Other members include former coordinating minister Agum Gumelar, businessman Chairul Tanjung, former PBNU chairman Said Aqil Siradj, MUI chairman Anwar Iskandar, and former PBNU chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf.
The lineup also includes CSIS co-founder Jusuf Wanandi, former coordinating minister Budi Gunawan, former MPR Speaker Bambang Soesatyo, former minister Salim Segaf Al Jufri, former East Java governor Soekarwo, and businessman Dato’ Sri Tahir.
Other members include Ida Bagus Purwalaksana, Philip Kuncoro Wijaya, Budi Tanuwibowo, former Constitutional Court Chief Justice Anwar Usman, former ambassador Mohammad Hatta, Jusuf Hamka, constitutional law expert Margarito Kamis, Jacky Manuputty, and Ignasius Jonan.
