Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto met Thursday with the drafting team behind the One Data Indonesia bill to discuss establishing integrated, secure, and accountable national data governance aimed at safeguarding the country’s data sovereignty.

The meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta brought together senior lawmakers, cabinet officials, and academic experts to review the proposed legislative framework as Indonesia accelerates its public sector digitalization.

“Data sovereignty is essential to national unity amid accelerating digitalization,” Subianto stated during the discussions, according to a statement released by the Cabinet Secretariat.

Under the proposed law, the government aims to consolidate national data infrastructure to improve public service delivery, streamline cross-agency information sharing, and reinforce cybersecurity resilience against global threats.

Key participants included House of Representatives Deputy Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, along with National Development Planning Ministry Secretary Teni Widuriyanti and IPB University Dean Sofyan Sjaf.

Other lawmakers attending included Legislation Body Chairman Bob Hasan, Commission XIII member Rieke Diah Pitaloka and House Expertise Agency chief Bayu Dwi Anggono.

The draft legislation will undergo further parliamentary review as lawmakers work to establish a unified legal framework for government data management across all state agencies.
