Prabowo pays tribute at Lubang Buaya on Pancasila Day

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto paid tribute to the Heroes of the Revolution at the Lubang Buaya well in Jakarta on Thursday after leading the 2026 Pancasila Sanctity Day ceremony.

Prabowo was accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Culture Minister Fadli Zon and the speakers of the MPR, DPR and DPD during the visit.

Prabowo paused to pray at the well, where the bodies of seven Heroes of the Revolution were found after the Sept. 30, 1965 events.

He then greeted guests, including representatives of foreign countries, before speaking with students who attended the earlier Pancasila Sanctity Day ceremony.

Prabowo later led his delegation to the Pancasila Sanctity Museum within the complex, where they viewed items related to the Sept. 30, 1965 events.

The president began Thursday by leading the annual Pancasila Sanctity Day ceremony, which carried the theme “Pancasila Unites the Nation Towards a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.”

Ministers, heads of state agencies and foreign representatives also attended the ceremony at the Pancasila Sakti Monument complex.

Indonesia commemorates Pancasila Sanctity Day every Oct. 1 in connection with political and violent events between late September and early October 1965, including the abduction and killing of seven Army officers.

The seven officers were later designated Heroes of the Revolution by the Indonesian government in recognition of their service and loyalty to Pancasila.
