Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed his appreciation for the invitation to the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), saying the forum could help strengthen regional cooperation.
“I am honored to participate in the 11th Eastern Economic Forum. This forum has great potential to bridge cooperation and connectivity in our region,” he said during a luncheon with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday.
On the occasion, Prabowo highlighted the two countries’ partnership, which has lasted for more than five decades, and described Russia as an important partner for Indonesia.
He also noted that Indonesia-Russia relations have reached the level of a strategic partnership, with Indonesia continuing to pursue mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
“Indonesia continues to strive to enhance cooperation in all fields to achieve benefits for both our countries,” he said.
Putin also expressed his gratitude for Prabowo’s visit to Vladivostok and his participation in the 11th EEF as a guest of honor.
“Indonesia is Russia’s most key partner in the Asia-Pacific region. We have a long-standing friendship,” he said.
Putin cited several improvements in relations between the two countries, including a 12-percent increase in bilateral trade last year.
He also highlighted bilateral cooperation in agriculture, technology, and energy, particularly nuclear energy.
Prabowo arrived at Vladivostok International Airport on Wednesday (September 2) to attend the 11th EEF as the forum’s guest of honor.
His presence in Vladivostok is part of efforts to strengthen the growing relationship between Indonesia and Russia across various fields.
His visit also provides an opportunity to expand cooperation between Indonesia and Russia, particularly in the economic, trade, investment, and other potential sectors.
Prabowo’s participation in the Vladivostok forum reflects Indonesia’s continued engagement with Russia’s economic forums. He previously attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) as a guest of honor in 2025.
