Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto received an honorary decoration from the Royal Thai Armed Forces during the state visit of Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at the Merdeka Palace here on Monday.
The decoration, presented in a transparent display case adorned with traditional Thai gold-colored ornaments along its edges, included a dark red beret bearing the emblem of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, a red aiguillette with gold-colored ornaments at its ends, and a pin.
The set also included a silver coin engraved with the image of the Royal Thai Armed Forces’ signature red beret as well as the emblems of each military branch.
During a joint press statement with President Prabowo, PM Charnvirakul said the Royal Thai Armed Forces presented the honorary decoration in recognition of the Indonesian president’s stature and distinguished military career, which are highly respected by the Thai military.
PM Charnvirakul told President Prabowo that many of their young generals admired him, and they had wished to accompany him as part of their delegation.
Looking ahead, the Thai prime minister said the Royal Thai Armed Forces are committed to continuing existing joint military exercises, intelligence sharing, and maritime security cooperation with the Indonesian Military (TNI).
On the same occasion, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the honorary decoration bestowed on him by the Royal Thai Armed Forces.
“This recognition comes as a surprise, and I regard it as a reflection of the trust, friendship, mutual respect, and close relations between Indonesia and Thailand,” President Prabowo remarked.
After delivering their joint press statement, PM Charnvirakul showed the honorary decoration to President Prabowo.
The two leaders then shook hands and posed for photographs with the decoration and medal displayed between them.
