Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto summoned the military and police chiefs for updates on efforts to contain forest and land fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said.
A limited meeting between Prabowo, Military Commander Gen. Agus Subiyanto, and Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo was held at Prabowo’s residence in Hambalang, Bogor District, West Java Province, on Tuesday.
“The meeting discussed national developments and efforts to tackle forest and land fires in parts of Sumatra and Kalimantan,” Teddy said on Tuesday night.
He said President Prabowo received reports on conditions in the field, including measures already taken to contain and control the fires.
“The government is strengthening coordination to ensure a swift, integrated response while anticipating the spread of fires,” Teddy said.
The Hambalang meeting was also attended by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Deputy Police Chief Dedi Prasetyo, and Jakarta Police Chief Asep Edi Suheri.
Other attendees included National Police Intelligence Chief Yuda Gustawan, Deputy Military Commander Tandyo Budi Revita, Defense Logistics Agency Chief Yusuf Jauhari, and Military Intelligence Assistant Rio Firdianto.
State Intelligence Agency Chief M. Herindra and Development Control and Special Investigation Agency Chief Aries Marsudiyanto also attended.
Prabowo held at least four consecutive limited meetings at Hambalang on Monday, covering national security, forest and land fires, the Red-and-White Fishing Village program, state honors, and affordable housing.
The housing meeting was attended by Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Infrastructure Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
Other participants included Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait, Coordinating Food Minister Zulkifli Hasan, Higher Education Minister Brian Yuliarto, Investment Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, and Danantara Technology Chief Sigit P. Santosa.
The meeting on state honors was attended by Culture Minister Fadli Zon, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy.
The fishing village meeting was attended by Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Investment Minister and Danantara CEO Rosan P. Roeslani, Brian Yuliarto, Sigit P. Santosa, Prasetyo Hadi, Teddy, and Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri.
