Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto summoned several senior officials to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday afternoon to discuss the latest developments regarding forest and land fires in several regions across Indonesia.
Arriving at around 2 p.m. local time in the Palace, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Dudung Abdurachman told reporters he would brief the president on the outcomes of a recent meeting with ministries on wildfire mitigation.
“I will report the results of my earlier meeting with ministries to Mr. President. Today, I also expect to receive further directives regarding forest and land fires from the president,” Abdurachman said.
His report would provide the president with an update on efforts to tackle the wildfires. However, Abdurachman declined to disclose details on the number of ongoing hotspots or the possibility of declaring the wildfires a national disaster.
“It’s not yet the time. I will tell you more after attending the meeting,” he told journalists.

Several other officials were also seen arriving at the palace, including Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian and Presidential Chief of Staff Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
The closed-door meeting at the Palace was conducted after a meeting chaired by Abdurachman at his office earlier on Monday.
