Jakarta (ANTARA) -Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated 26 members of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres), appointing Pratikno as chairman and Muhammad Hatta Rajasa as deputy chairman, during a ceremony at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday.
He administered their oath of office just one day after officiating a major cabinet reshuffle at the same venue.
“By the name of God, I vow to be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and to carry out all laws and regulations to the best possible extent in service of the nation and the state,” the newly appointed Wantimpres members pledged.
The council members also vowed to perform their duties, uphold official ethics, and work to the best of their ability with full responsibility.
Pratikno assumes the council’s top position after serving as coordinating minister for human development and culture in Prabowo’s administration. Former foreign minister Sugiono was appointed as his successor on Thursday (Oct. 1).
He will be supported by Hatta Rajasa, a senior politician who held several ministerial posts under presidents Megawati Soekarnoputri and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, including coordinating minister for economic affairs and transportation minister.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Qodari was appointed secretary of the council. He previously headed the Government Communication Agency (Bakom), while Syahganda Nainggolan was inaugurated as the agency’s new head during the same ceremony.
Wantimpres includes former coordinating minister for political, social, and security affairs Agum Gumelar; former coordinating minister for economic affairs Chairul Tanjung; former transportation minister Ignasius Jonan; former social affairs minister Salim Segaf Al Jufri; and former Constitutional Court chief justice Anwar Usman.
Academic and religious figures also joined the council, including Indonesian Buddhist Association leader Philip Kuncoro Wijaya, Quranic scholar and former religious affairs minister Quraish Shihab, Confucian leader Budi Tanuwibowo, Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) co-founder Jusuf Wanandi, and political commentator Rocky Gerung.
Other members of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) are Shinta Nuriyah Wahid, Bambang Soesatyo, Budi Gunawan, Anwar Iskandar, Said Aqil Siradj, Yahya Cholil Staquf, Ida Bagus Purwalaksana, Soekarwo, Jusuf Hamka, Dato’ Sri Tahir, Margarito, Jacky Manuputty and Mohamad Hatta.
