Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto departed Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta for Central Halmahera District, North Maluku, on Thursday morning to inaugurate 11 projects under the national natural resource downstreaming drive.

The Halmahera agenda is centered on a downstreaming program valued at around Rp180 trillion (US$10.2 billion), comprising the first export shipment of electric vehicle batteries and the inauguration of 11 downstreaming projects, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said.

He added that the 11 projects comprise the commercialization of four industrial projects and the groundbreaking of seven new industrial projects within the Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park.

Accompanying the head of state on the visit are Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and Downstreaming Bahlil Lahadalia, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Sugiono, Housing and Settlements Minister Maruarar Sirait, and State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.

The visit came a week after Prabowo appointed Bahlil Lahadalia, who continues to serve as energy and mineral resources minister, to lead the newly established Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming and Energy Transition at the State Palace in Jakarta.

Bahlil said the ministry was created to strengthen coordination and accelerate the implementation of downstreaming and energy transition programs, which form part of Prabowo’s eight priority missions, known collectively as Asta Cita.

“One of the President’s Asta Cita missions focuses on downstreaming and energy transition. Through the coordinating ministry, we must be able to better consolidate these efforts and accelerate their implementation,” he remarked after his inauguration.

He added that the new ministry is tasked with coordinating several institutions, including the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming, to advance efforts toward achieving downstreaming and energy transition targets.
