Jakarta (ANTARA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is scheduled to meet Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at Merdeka Palace on Sunday during a state visit to Jakarta.
According to Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir, Prabowo is scheduled to receive al-Sisi at 10:30 a.m.
The agenda includes a private meeting, bilateral talks, and the signing of memorandums of understanding, Nasir, known as Tata, said after attending the Egyptian president’s welcoming ceremony at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Saturday.
He said the talks are part of efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Egypt across several sectors. The two leaders are scheduled to hold a private meeting before talks with delegations from both countries.
The planned agreements cover visa arrangements, statistical and fisheries cooperation, as well as an action plan to deepen the countries’ strategic partnership.
Nasir said al-Sisi is scheduled to return to Egypt on Sunday afternoon after completing his official program in Jakarta.
Preparations for the Egyptian president’s welcome at Merdeka Palace began on Saturday. Presidential Security Force commander Maj. Gen. Edwin Adrian Sumantha inspected the honor guard and mounted unit from the force’s cavalry battalion.
The motorcade is scheduled to pass through Monas Square, escorted by mounted troops from the Presidential Security Force. Al-Sisi’s October 10–11 visit marks his first trip to Indonesia since 2015.
Nasir said the visit reciprocates Prabowo’s trips to Egypt in 2024 and 2025. Indonesia is the final stop on al-Sisi’s Asian tour, following visits to South Korea from October 6–9 and Malaysia from October 9–10.
Al-Sisi arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Saturday afternoon aboard a presidential aircraft escorted by Indonesian Air Force fighter jets. As the aircraft entered Indonesian airspace, it was escorted by two Sukhoi Su-30s, two Su-27s, and two F-16 fighters.
At the air base, al-Sisi was welcomed by Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Dudung Abdurachman and Foreign Minister Nasir. An honor guard and schoolchildren waving Indonesian and Egyptian flags also took part in the welcoming ceremony.
