Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Joko Widodo has emphasized the urgency of law reform following the detention of Supreme Court Justice Sudrajad Dimyati as a suspect in the alleged bribery case in the Supreme Court.
To this end, the president also confirmed to have instructed Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD.
“I see there is a major urgency to reform our legal field and I have instructed the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. Hence, please inquire (about the matter with) the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs,” Jokowi stated at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base here on Monday.
The head of state also urged all parties to be patient and follow the legal process at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) that has named Sudrajad Dimyati as a suspect in the alleged bribery case.
The KPK also named suspects: Judicial Judge/Substitute Registrar of the Supreme Court Elly Tri Pangestu (ETP), two civil servants of Supreme Court Registrar Desy Yustria (DY) and Muhajir Habibie (MH), and two civil servants of MA Nurmanto Akmal (NA) and Albasri (AB), as recipients of bribes.
Meanwhile, the suspects who gave bribes were two lawyers Yosep Parera (YP) and Eko Suparno (ES) and two private parties or debtors of the Intidana Savings and Loans Cooperative (ID) Heryanto Tanaka (HT) and Ivan Dwi Kusuma Sujanto (IDKS).
The KPK also confiscated evidence in the form of 205,000 Singapore dollars and 50 million rupiah.
The Supreme Court also issued a temporary dismissal letter for Sudrajad Dimyati as a supreme judge due to his involvement in a corruption case related to the management of the case.
