President Prabowo attends BRICS meeting with partner countries

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended a meeting of BRICS members and partner nations during an open session at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, India, on Sunday.

Based on an online observation on Sunday, the leaders took the opportunity to pose for a group photo before the open session involving BRICS members, partner countries, and outreach nations began.

President Prabowo stood in the front row alongside Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The host, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stood in the center with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping on either side of him.

Earlier, President Prabowo said BRICS plays a crucial role in strengthening collective capacity to contribute to global resilience.

He conveyed the statement during a limited session themed “Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism” at the BRICS Summit in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India, on Saturday (Sept 12).

“BRICS represents half of humanity and a significant portion of the global economy and trade. BRICS unites the world’s largest markets and major energy producers. This gives us immense collective strength,” Prabowo said according to the official statement.

During the event, Prabowo also engaged in warm conversations with several world leaders on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam.

According to a written statement by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, President Prabowo conversed with Indian OM Modi, President Putin, and President Xi before the summit’s opening session began.

“The four leaders appeared to be conversing in a warm and friendly atmosphere before the opening session commenced,” Teddy said in his statement on Saturday (Sept 12).

President Prabowo’s participation in the 18th BRICS Summit also reflects Indonesia’s commitment to playing an active role in various international forums and expanding partnerships with friendly nations.

Meanwhile, the warm atmosphere ahead of the summit’s opening also reflects Indonesia’s positive relations with India, Russia, and China, which are key strategic partners for Indonesia at both the regional and global levels.
