Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) – A joint search-and-rescue team evacuated Hikmah, a 14-year-old hiker from East Lombok, after she was injured on Pergasingan Hill near Mount Rinjani in West Nusa Tenggara on Sunday.
“She was hiking with her group from 4 a.m. local time when she slipped and injured her leg, leaving her too weak to continue,” Mataram SAR Office Chief Muhamad Hariyadi said here Sunday.
Her accompanying teacher reported the incident to the Sembalun Search and Rescue Alert Unit on Sunday afternoon, saying Hikmah was last seen near Camp 2 in the Pergasingan summit area.
In response, the Sembalun rescue team coordinated with Nusa Medica Clinic, Pergasingan Hill management and other search-and-rescue personnel to reach her location.
The operation involved the East Lombok SAR Unit, EMHC, Mount Rinjani National Park (TNGR), TSBD, Sembalun police and military personnel, Pergasingan and Sempana managers, KKN teams from Undikma and Unham, and IAI Hamzanwadi Pancor.
The joint team reached Hikmah at about 4:57 p.m., provided initial medical treatment and carried her down the hill on a stretcher.
“She was then taken to Sembalun Community Health Center, arriving at 8:54 p.m. for further treatment,” Hariyadi said.
Hariyadi thanked all search-and-rescue personnel for their swift response.
“We appreciate the coordination and rapid response of all the teams, who worked together to ensure the victim was evacuated safely,” he said.
The operation was closed after Hikmah was safely evacuated and handed over to her family and medical personnel.
