RI boosts human resources, aims for 3.49 million jobs in 2027

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Manpower Minister Yassierli said the government is committed to preparing the competencies of Indonesian human resources as it aims to create 3.49 million new jobs in 2027.

National Internship and National Vocational Training programmes, Yassierli said, become the government’s two strategic initiatives to reach the goal.

“We have internship and vocational training programmes and we are continuously working to align industry needs with these programmes. So, in terms of workforce preparation, those are our two major focus areas,” Yassierli told the press at the Parliamentary Building in Jakarta on Wednesday.

In addition to preparing relevant competencies for new job seekers, he said both programmes are expected to address the mismatch between industry requirements and the existing workforce’s skills.

This year, the government aims to have 150,000 recent university graduates enrolled the National Internship programme; while the National Vocational Training programme is targeted to reach over 200,000 senior high school and vocational high school graduates.

“These are also the priority programmes of President Prabowo Subianto, with quite ambitious targets, even though they do not yet cover the total number of new job seekers,” Yassierli said.

He also noted both initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to providing young job seekers with direct work experience.

Furthermore, he said the government remains committed to bolstering collaboration with the educational sector, including the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.

Previously, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the government targets the creation of up to 3.49 million new jobs in 2027. The number is already outlined in the quality development goals set in the draft 2027 state budget.
