Semarang deports four Chinese fugitives linked to love scam

Semarang (ANTARA) – Semarang Immigration Office in Central Java Province has deported four Chinese nationals who were wanted by authorities in their home country.

The administrative immigration action stemmed from an operation targeting an alleged online fraud syndicate involved in a “love scam” scheme on June 4, 2026, in the Puri Anjasmoro area of Semarang City, Head of Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement at the Semarang Immigration Office Haryono Susilo said in Semarang on Wednesday.

According to Susilo, those apprehended during the operation included four Chinese nationals, identified by their initials as HJ (40), HK (44), HY (44), and TW (37), who were fugitives wanted by the Chinese authorities.

“The case demonstrates that Indonesia, particularly the jurisdiction of the Semarang Immigration Office, must not become a haven or operational base for transnational crime,” Susilo said.

He emphasized that the entire enforcement process was conducted professionally, in a coordinated manner, and in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.

The Semarang Immigration Office, Susilo said, will continue to strengthen its intelligence capabilities, enhance supervision of foreign nationals, and expand information sharing with law enforcement agencies and foreign diplomatic missions.

He also urged the public to report the presence or activities of foreign nationals considered suspicious through the official complaint channels.
