Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s military and security agencies will deploy 74 aircraft over Jakarta’s State Palace for the Aug. 17 Independence Day celebration, including the Indonesian Air Force’s newest Rafale fighter jets.

“The plan involves 74 aircraft from the Air Force, Army, Navy, police and search-and-rescue agency,” Air Force Spokesman First Marshal I Nyoman Suadnyana told ANTARA on Wednesday.

The 74 aircraft include fighter jets, transport aircraft, helicopters, reconnaissance aircraft and Boeing aircraft, he said.

Air Force pilots are currently conducting maneuver training ahead of their appearance in the skies over Jakarta, Nyoman said.

However, Nyoman did not provide details of the maneuvers planned for the event or say when the training began.

Various types of military and security aircraft will take part in the Aug. 17 aerial parade. They include Airbus A400M, CN-295, Rafale, F-16, Sukhoi Su-27/30, Hawk 100/200, T-50i Golden Eagle, and NAS-332 Super Puma.

The Air Force’s Jupiter Aerobatic Team will also return with its KT-1B Woong Bee aircraft, following its appearance at last year’s Independence Day celebration.

The Air Force’s Dynamic Pegasus helicopter aerobatic team is also expected to showcase its flying skills during the military aircraft parade.
