Six military planes with disaster aid sent NTT, Kalimantan: govt

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian government sent six Air Force planes on Monday carrying food supplies and firefighting equipment to disaster-hit areas in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and Kalimantan, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said.

In a written statement, Teddy said three Air Force planes flew to East Nusa Tenggara, bound for Labuan Bajo and Maumere.

The aircraft carried 31 tons of ready-to-eat supplies, including biscuits, wafers, protein bars, bread and other food, as well as toys for children.

Meanwhile, three planes flew to Pontianak, Palangka Raya and Banjarmasin carrying 500 water pumps, part of 2,000 units to be delivered in stages, Teddy said.

He said the pumps were sent on President Prabowo Subianto’s orders and at the request of Kalimantan governors to support firefighting efforts.

Each pump comes with 1 kilometer of hose or piping to support firefighting, particularly in peatland areas, he said.

Teddy said President Prabowo’s directive on disaster response was clear: all efforts must be carried out swiftly and in a coordinated manner.

“Every agency must ensure logistical aid reaches and is received by people who need it,” he said.

The government will continue supporting disaster response efforts and ensure affected residents receive the assistance they need, Teddy said.

“The government will ensure affected residents are not left on their own. We are here to stand with them,” he said.
