Jakarta (ANTARA) – About 11,000 personnel strengthened synergy through a national unity preparation routine ahead of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day anniversary, themed “Sovereign, Just and Prosperous Indonesia,” at the National Monument (Monas) here on Saturday.

“Protecting Jakarta means protecting Indonesia. Through the spirit of nationalism, we build collective strength between the government, the Indonesian Military (TNI), the police, and all levels of society to maintain security, order, and unity,” Chief of the Greater Jakarta Police Asep Edi Suheri said here on Saturday.

Suheri said protecting Jakarta is part of the effort to safeguard Indonesia, stressing the importance of collaboration between the government, TNI, the police, and all levels of society.

The preparation routine involved police, TNI personnel, and members of the public as a moment to strengthen unity, synergy, and togetherness across differences.

Around 11,000 participants took part in the event, comprising 500 TNI personnel, 500 police personnel, and 10,000 members of the public from various groups.

“They came from community organizations, online motorcycle taxi communities, laborers, the Cipayung Plus youth organization coalition (OKP), security guards, community security awareness groups, students, and the Bhayangkara Scout unit,” he said.

Jakarta Military Command Chief, Lieutenant General Deddy Suryadi, also affirmed that Jakarta plays an important role as the face of Indonesia, adding that the city’s stability needs to be maintained through cross-sector cooperation.

“Jakarta is the face of Indonesia. When Jakarta is safe, Indonesia grows stronger,” Suryadi said.

During the event, members of the public also read out the Jaga Jakarta untuk Indonesia (Protecting Jakarta for Indonesia) declaration, which contains commitments to maintain order, reject provocation, intolerance, violence, and division, and to strengthen mutual cooperation.

Alongside the declaration, the event also included a social program featuring the distribution of basic food packages and free health services, including general, eye, dental, and laboratory checkups.
