Singkawang, W Kalimantan (ANTARA) – Indonesia has deported a Taiwanese national who overstayed an Indonesian residence permit by about five months, the Singkawang Immigration Office in West Kalimantan said.
“AHC allegedly violated Indonesia’s immigration rules by overstaying for approximately five months,” Achmad Aswira, head of intelligence and immigration enforcement at the Singkawang Immigration Office, said.
The case began with a public report on Wednesday, October 28, concerning a foreign national allegedly staying in Singkawang beyond the validity of their residence permit.
Acting on the report, immigration officers conducted an investigation on Thursday, October 29. With help from local residents, they found AHC in Sedau, South Singkawang District.
An initial examination revealed that AHC was a former Indonesian citizen. Officers also found that the residence permit had expired on June 13, 2026, resulting in an overstay of about five months.
AHC was taken to the Singkawang Immigration Office for further questioning about travel documents, citizenship status, residence permits and activities while in Indonesia.
“After completing the examination and handling the case in accordance with applicable regulations, the Singkawang Immigration Office escorted the foreign national for deportation on Wednesday, November 4,” Achmad said here Friday.
Officers escorted AHC from the immigration office to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, where AHC boarded a flight to Taiwan.
In addition to deportation, AHC was placed on an immigration blacklist under Article 78(3) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration.
