Jakarta (ANTARA) – The COVID-19 Task Force has asked the authorities to take firm action against those found selling fake PCR test results, saying they could jeopardize public safety and health.
“The authorities should not be hesitant in enforcing regulations in accordance with existing laws so that there are no violations,” spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said in a press conference, here on Thursday.
He said that good cooperation between the government, regional governments, and the community is essential to handle the pandemic.
He then appealed to the public to not falsify COVID-19 test results since it could put public health and safety at risk.

To facilitate travel, the government has continued to prepare infrastructure for the implementation of PCR document digitization, he said.
“The implementation of digitizing the PCR (test) document is intended to increase the speed of checking so that the process can run smoothly,” he explained.
However, he admitted that currently, not all regions have the same capacity for digitalization.
“Nevertheless, we are trying our best to help prepare infrastructure and personnel readiness in the regions so that the process of using technology in order to accelerate economic recovery and maintain health in the community can be carried out well,” he said.

Earlier, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police had arrested two persons, identified by their initials as RAR and TM, suspected of selling fake vaccination and COVID-19 test result certificates.
Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Yusri Yunus informed that the two suspects marketed their services through the social media platform Facebook under the name Rani Maharani.
After receiving the order, the suspects used the names of certain clinics to fake vaccination and COVID-19 test result certificates and charged their customers different prices.
