Central Lombok, NTB (ANTARA) – The Indonesian military (TNI) has established a field kitchen and deployed personnel to support recovery efforts in the Sade Cultural Village following a fire that swept through the historic site over the weekend.
Central Lombok Military District Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohamad Arifin said here on Monday that the personnel are currently spearheading post-fire mitigation, cleanup operations, and distribution of food.
“The field kitchen has been set up to provide meals for both the residents and the personnel involved in the post-disaster recovery process,” Arifin stated.
To coordinate the emergency response, authorities have utilized a local village cooperative building as a disaster command center for the facility to prepare meals.
Arifin noted that the rapid deployment of military personnel, alongside other agencies, aims to alleviate the immediate burden on the community, particularly those who lost their homes and belongings in the blaze.
He praised the spirit of mutual cooperation and solidarity among stakeholders and the public, calling it a vital strength in accelerating the recovery process.
“We will ensure that maximum support for the affected residents continues. We are coordinating with the local government and all relevant parties to ensure the disaster response and recovery efforts in the Sade Cultural Village proceed properly,” Arifin added.
The blaze in Sade Village broke out at 10 p.m. local time (WITA; GMT+8) on Saturday in the traditional village, located in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
Previously, on Sunday, the Culture Office of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government began inventorying artifacts and cultural elements damaged by the fire as an initial step toward preserving cultural heritage in the village.
The Head of the NTB Culture Office, Muhamad Ihwan, said his office is identifying and saving the remaining cultural artifacts, including documenting the knowledge, stories, and traditions that live on among the Sade indigenous people.
“The most important part is saving cultural artifacts, including the stories of local residents,” he conveyed after inspecting the post-fire conditions at the traditional village.
According to Ihwan, the inventory process is needed to evaluate damage to both tangible cultural objects and intangible cultural elements that form an important part of Sade Traditional Village’s identity.
